Liberia Qualified For “Big Brother”
The
anticipation of many persons in the sub region to see Liberians
participating in the most talked about television program “Big Brother
Africa” has been accomplished as some Liberians have been qualified to
participate in this year’s event.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Consolidated Group, provider of
DStv services in Liberia, Simon Freeman over the weekend explained that
Liberia’s qualification is an opportunity for the candidates to portray
some of Liberia’s culture to the world.
Mr. Freeman said the qualified Liberians should make use of their
participation to tell the rest of Africa what Liberia is made of by
telling the Liberian story. He said Liberia delayed in participating in
this program in the past because many persons were not subscribing to
DStv.
The Consolidated Group Executive officer assured Liberians that his
entity has reduced the cost of DStv to enable many persons see the
entire program on the ‘Big Brother STARGAME’.
Mr. Freeman further pleaded with Liberians to send in as many text
messages as they can to enable the Liberian representatives emerge as
winners. “Though the texting will be costly, let us do it for our
people. Let us do it for Liberians,” he implored.
Nigerian Movie Star, Desmond Elliott, has assured Liberians that
his country will give its support to Liberia to ensure that Liberia wins
the award of US$ 300,000. He challenged Liberians to give all of their
supports so that the country’s representatives will return home with
pride.
Though the names of those representing Liberia were not disclosed,
the Big Brother STARGAME began on Sunday on DStv Channel 98, the place
to Africa.
On this Channel, viewers will see the action live, all day, every
day and it is available to DStv Compact, Compact plus and Premium
subscribers. For the next few days, the launch and eviction shows will
be screened on Sundays, while the nomination shows will also be screened
on Mondays.
The daily shows will come up from Wednesdays to Fridays and weekly
highlight shows are screened on Saturdays on Africa Magic entertainment
channels. The edited highlights of the series will also be screened on
the new pay TV operator GOtv this year.
The screening of these highlights programs on GOtv demonstrates
very efficiently while the new kid on the pay TV block is destined to
change the television landscape in Africa forever, providing consumers
with access to popular African programming and a range of international
channels.
Big Brother STARGAME offers two feeds from the house, so Liberians
are opportune to watch the entire program by using the DStv remote while
on DStv channel 198 to access the second feed, as well as housemate
profiles, news and information on voting.
According to the head of the Consolidated Group, the audience can
get the show information on the big brother Africa TV website and the
show is also expected to be screened live daily on DStv Mobile in Ghana,
Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria and South Africa.
