Mugabe Honours BBA Winner Wendall, Vimbai and Muzhingi

Harare, August 04, 2011 – President Robert Mugabe on Thursday presented Big Brother Africa winner, Wendall Parson and Comrades marathon three time winner, Stephen Muzhingi with $50 000 in cash each at a ceremony at the State House.

Mugabe who last year presented Big Brother finalist, Munyaradzi Chidzonga with a $300 000 cheque for coming second also gave Big Brother Amplified 2011 contestant Vimbai Mutinhiri $10 000 in cash.

Wendall won the Big Brother Amplified together with Karen Igho of Nigeria. The two were awarded with $200 000 each.

Mugabe told guests at a luncheon in Harare at the State House that business people contributed for the money that he presented to Wendall, Mutinhiri and Muzhingi. He said Zimbabwe economy is not perfoming well at the moment but business people have contributed ‘something’ in a small way.
“I want in a very special way to recognise the threesome (Wendall, Mutinhiri and Muzhingi) who are here by virtue of their talents that we have discovered that they have. We have business people who have presented gifts to me to show their appreciation , these gifts come from people who are charitable,” Mugabe said before asking Youth Minister Saviour Kasukuwere to announce the cash gifts.

Wendall, who arrived in the country on Wednesday from South Africa said he was happy to have won the $200 000 prize while Vimbai thanked Zimbabweans for supporting them during their time in the Big Brother house.
Muzhingi said he wishes to win the 88 km comrades marathon again and promised to win it next year saying he is dedicating 2012 marathons win to Mugabe.

“Next year comrades marathon is going to be dedicated to you President Robert Mugabe,” Muzhingi said.
