Big Brother housemate, Alex debuts in Socrate Sarfo movie

Ghana’s representative at the just ended Big Brother Africa (Amplified) reality show, Alex Biney has landed his first ever movie role.

Nicknamed Boma Ye, Alex left the Big Brother Africa show as Ghana’s best performer since the inception of the reality show, spending 70 days in the house, became Head of House and came up for eviction on two occasions – the first of which he saved himself.

After a relatively successful reality show, Alex is making his debut in the movie, Sons of Satan, directed by controversial movie director and producer Socrate Sarfo.

Sons of Satan is based on the internet scam popularly called ‘Sakawa’ which is plaguing society. The movie captures the new trend sakawa has taken as most youth now use spiritual powers to seduce rich women to get money from them.

Tagged as the ‘Ladies Man’, Alex is playing the role of a boy friend, Papa, to a girl who has very little time for him.

Alex, according to the director of the movie, Socrate Sarfo, opted for a local name- Papa- in allegiance to his native Fante ethnic group. “He said he wants to use a Fante name and he wants to promote his people…that is one thing he insisted on that he is a Fante and wants to use a Fante name,” Socrates said.

The very shy first-time actor who had to be pushed before kissing on set is expected to appear in eleven scenes in the movie and as at Monday, Alex had shot seven of those scenes.

Socrate Sarfo admitted to Myjoyonline.com that the Big Brother housemate apart from his monitory value, had the potential of making it big on the movie scene as he is easy to work with.

On the experience of working with him, the director revealed that, “I saw in him, the three basic qualities that anybody needs to be an actor [should have]; the looks, the diction and the attitude.

“He has good looks that I know the ladies will love, he has good diction when it comes to the English that we are using for this production, and the attitude…very easily going and he also listens.”

When Myjoyonline.com contacted Alex Biney, he confirmed featuring in the movie but said he will not comment further.

Fred Amugi, Vivian Achor, Baby Blanch, Duke Felix, Bentus Lord Otoo, Jerry Botwe and Fred Safo Dakwa are also starring in Safo Dakwa. The movie is under production and is expected to hit the market very soon.
