Did You Know That Two Housemates Pulled Out Of Big Brother Amplified Before Sunday

Just when you least expect it two housemates pulled out of the Big Brother Amplified a day before Sunday's launch of the reality series.

The two housemates one from Angola and another from Mozambique decided to quit the show citing personal reasons.

Instead of 28 housemates there are now 26 competing for the grand prize of US$200 000.

The show runs 24/7 on DStv's channel 198.

An official from M-Net who could not be named for professional reasons confirmed that two housemates had pulled out.

"It was only after we had done all the preparations that they decided to quit. Just like everyone else they had been in the country for 10 days, and we had no option but to let them go.

"We wish them well. We really understand their reasons," said the official.

But the decision by the two did not in any away dampen the official launch of the "amplified" edition, which lived up to its billing when it burst into life on Sunday night at the Sassani Studios, in Highlands North-home to the BBA house.

As has become the norm, the house was full, what with South African's top celebrities who were all dressed for the occasion and wanted to be part of the fun.

The first BBA Amplified housemate to be introduced to the audience in a live broadcast to more than 40 countries across Africa was none other than our very own Vimbai Mutinhiri, who has been plying her trade in South Africa as a model in the past few years.

Vimbai received a thunderous applause from the audience, as she confidently walked on stage.

Even the BBA presenter Nigerian born Osakioduwa, known by his legions of fans as IK, was mesmerised by the lanky model's catwalk.

"Oh boy, I just love Zimbabwe and I am sure you all now know where I will be going for my holiday," he said.

Her catchy looks would be complemented by 23-year-old Zimbabwe-born pilot Wendell Parson who confidently acknowledged that Munya Chidzonga inspired him take part in the reality show.

The two, who apparently met for the first time on stage, immediately warmed up to each other and could be seen whispering - probably to strengthen the camaraderie.

It, however, would certainly not be a walk in the park for the two Zimbabwean housemates as they would have to compete against some of the big names in the arts and entertainment industry in Africa to clinch the $200 000 prize money after 91 testing days.

Some of the celebrity housemates they will be competing with include Kenyan actress Millicent Mugadi, two of Africa's DJ's, Nigeria's Melivina Longpet and Malawian 101FM radio announcer Lomwe, Botswana rapper Zeus, Ghanaian night club owner Confidence Haugen, Angola's Weza and Ugandan musician Sharon O.
