Wendall treats orphans to early X-mas

Big Brother Amplified (BBA) 2011 co-winner, Wendall Parson, continues to leave smiles on Harare Children’s Home orphans with his unending love for them. He donated foodstuffs including goat meat, biscuits, sweets, chips and ice-cream for their Christmas party which was held recently at the home. Last week, he went to Kariba accompanied by his brother, Lorenzo, and the two went fishing and managed to catch 150 kg of fish.

Wendall decided to travel back to Harare with the fish and donate to the Harare Children’s Home.
The children could not help but continuously hug the housemate, who is now more of a brother to them as he usually spends quality time with the children every week.
Also with the support from Heritage School, Wendall donated balls, books and toilet paper from funds sourced from the school children.
Wendall has kept his promise because the first time he donated to the home, he said his desire was to continue working with the home to make a difference in the children’s lives.
Besides donating food stuffs Wendall has also kept the children entertained by visiting them with Drum Café and playing drums with them.
Maria Sithole, Harare Children’s Home director, said the home hasbeen in existence for over 90 years and houses over 90 children.
“The home provides a place of safety for abandoned children. We look after their needs and help them grow into independent adults. The home also strives to receive and care for necessitous children of either sex, regardless of religious denomination or nationality,” she said.
She said the children were from a wide range of social backgrounds.
“These are children that have been abandoned, abused in numerous ways, or are children whose parents are alcoholic, imprisoned, mentally impaired, violent or deceased,” she said.
