BBA Zeus versus Lomwe

Big Brother Africa Amplified (BBAA) housemates Zeus (Game Bantsi) and Malawi’s DJ Lomwe (Tendai Namate) have collaborated on a joint mix-tape that is expected to be on the market soon.

The 101 Power fm DJ, Lomwe, was in the country last week and the duo shot the video of the hard-hitting first single Double Wowza on Sunday afternoon. They also got into the studio to record another song.

Lomwe, a renowned ‘urban music’ artist, believes the project is an offshoot of his great relationship with Zeus in the BBAA house.

“It’s a great combination and a spin-off from the show. It’s exactly what we talked about in the house, we made a plan and we are trying to follow through with it. The show is over now and there is plenty of work to be done.

But I’m glad we managed to get a lot of work done on Sunday,” Lomwe told Showbiz from Blantyre, Malawi.

The Malawian’s music career stands to get a big boost from the partnership with the one-time Channel O award-winner, Zeus. Lomwe has two mix-tapes under his belt so far with his popular Hip-hop hit being Nyau.

Zeus is equally elated about the joint enterprise and sees some exciting elements in the project. “It should be something very fresh and because it’s a mix-tape and not an album we have the room to make it more edgy, more raw and more expressive. I think there are nice elements in it because of the fact that we both come from a Hip Hop background, we have the opportunity to mix different aspects of our cultural music,” Zeus said. He is convinced that other influences of people who are part of the project will spice it up. 

The man on production is in Namibia while the one who did the first single is in the UK. Just like Lomwe, Zeus relishes the rapport between them and speaks glaringly of the Malawian. “It’s great because we built a great relationship from the time spent in the house and I think he was one of the people who I was closest to. I also felt he was real and down-to-earth and it’s nice to take that personal relationship and move it over to the music and business side of things,” he said. 

Meanwhile, one of the winners of the just-ended BBAA, Karen, is also in the music studio and set to release a single any time soon. She was spotted recently in a studio with a popular Nigerian producer.

However, most of her fans seem to disagree with her ‘newfound’ passion for singing and believe she can do better at acting. Karen pulled so many stunts during her 91 days in the BBAA house both in the chat room and in the house. Her attack on Luclay and her advances on Zeus left many convinced she could do well in the film industry.
