Big Brother Auditions On At President Hotel, Botswana
MultiChoice
Botswana will this Friday and Saturday host auditions in search for a
candidate who will represent the country at this year’s Big Brother
Africa (BBA) competition that is billed to start on May 26.
It is expected that 14 African countries,
including Botswana, will take part in this year’s eighth season of the
competition. In an interview with Showbiz, MultiChoice Public Relations
Executive, Tshepo Maphanyane said that they are faced with a challenge
of selecting Botswana’s next representative in the BBA house. She
however said that through the auditions she is certain they will be able
to identify a suitable candidate to represent the country.
She added that they are looking for a
candidate who is tolerant because staying in the house means interacting
with people from different backgrounds.Maphanyane further said that the
selected candidate would have to be someone with a certain level of
maturity. She said that “There are certain rules and regulations that
need to be followed in the house and we need a person who will be able
to follow those guidelines. We need a person who can maintain their cool
even when provoked by housemates “.
She added that apart from that, the
individual should be easy going and be able to have fun in the house.
She pointed out that Big Brother is an interactive show that has
activities and the chosen representative should also be able to fit in
that scenario.Furthermore Maphanyane said that everyone over the age of
21 is eligible to come and try their luck this weekend at President
Hotel in the Main Mall.
She said that although there was a
February 14 deadline, those who did not manage to fill in the entry
forms are still welcome to come and audition. She said that they would
give the hopefuls audition forms to fill once they are at the scouting
venue.Maphanyane pointed out that people should not feel discouraged to
come and try their luck as they might strike it big and become the next
representatives in the house. “People like to judge themselves before
trying and this hinders their chances so I urge them to come in large
numbers and try their luck without limiting themselves,” she said.
In addition, Maphanyane said that the
auditions are only to be hosted in Gaborone hence why people should
encourage themselves to come, as there won’t be a next time to come try
their luck.In terms of support, she said that so far Batswana have been
supportive and remain hopeful that a Motswana can win the competition.
Maphanyane said that Batswana should use their media platforms set up
such as the Big Brother Facebook page and Twitter account and others to
follow the show and be kept up to date with every development.
