The remains of former Big Brother Africa housemate, Goldie has been buried. She was laid to rest on Monday at Vaults and Garden cemetery Ikoyi. Goldie died on 14 February 2013, the day she arrived from America after attending Grammy awards. Autopsy report shows that Goldie died of hypertensive heart disease.The burial was a private affair with few friends and family members in attendance. Kenny Ogungbe the CEO of her record label led other members. Derenle Edun, Olisa Adibua, Gbenga Adeyinka, KSB, Seun Oloketuyi of Best of Nollywood awards and few others were at the burial service as the remains of Goldie embarked on it final Journey. 91 days is just at the surface of it. In reality the show begins over 240 days before as it is made for viewership in 47 countries. Also, presenter IK, the host is helped by lots of other people back stage that work around the clock, they are the show’s unsung heroes. Brenda Banura writes about the scenes behind the BBA curtain. It was the 90th day of the Big Brother Africa reality show. It is just one more day to the end of the show. The venue, Sasani Studios, Johannesburg, the home of Big Brother Africa is a buzz of activity like expected. Staff members pace around like headless chicken cross checking one thing or another. In one room are over 50 monitors each broadcasting a different part of the Big Brother house.

It was an ambiance of sobriety this morning as tragic news of the death of vivacious and daring Nigerian Singer,  Goldie Harvey , hit the fan. The star unfortunately died after complaining of a brief headache after her return from the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday 14th February 2013. The Nigerian Music scene has truly lost an amazing singer who stood out from the rest and made herself a force to be reckoned with.

We clearly remember years ago,  Goldie  gave an in-depth interview to a Nigerian newspaper. In the interview, the star talked about several intimate subjects – her mother’s death when she was a young child, living and studying for her degree in the UK, her entrepreneurial pursuits (at the time, she had a successful business unrelated to music – from what we remember, it was related to making cards) and also her marriage. After that, we never saw any other mention of her marriage in future interviews. We simply assumed that she decided to keep it private or the marriage was dissolved.

In the wake of the shocking news of Nigerian pop star  Goldie Harvey ‘s death, her Big Brother Africa StarGame confidant and friend  Prezzo  has released a tribute poem. The Kenyan rapper who is reportedly on his way to Nigeria called Goldie  a Goddess  on his  Facebook  and  Twitter  pages.

Although Zainab O. Sheriff was evicted from the Big Brother Stargame, she seem to be the most favourite with a carefree attitude. Today many don’t remember Keagan ‘the winner’ but Uglyzed (her display moniker on Blackberry messenger). It was perceived that her chance for the BBA ultimate was high hence her fans didn’t take it likely with Big Brother’s eviction. When her fans heard she was in Ghana starring in her first movie production from our last week publication, even though we did not state her location, they managed to find her on set at the Nima Police station, Accra.

It has now  been confirmed that former BBA contestant and Nigerian musician is dead! Kennis Music have issued a press statement confirming this and a double confirmation has come from the deceased best friend Denrele Edun (A Nigerian TV presenter for Channel O). The hospital where the Nigerian star passed on have disclosed the cause of death as pulmonary embolism which is an obstruction of a blood vessel in the lungs usually caused by a blood clot which blocks a coronary artery. According to an article on the New York Times website,

Nigerian popular singer and former Big Brother Africa Housemate Goldie Harvey is dead. Goldie, born Susan Filani, died on Thursday night at Reddington Hospital, in Victoria Island, Lagos. According to Daily Times newspaper, the singer died shortly after arriving in Nigeria from the US where she attended the Grammy Awards. Her record label, Kennies Music, released an official statement through her Twitter and Facebook accounts announcing her death.

“On behalf of Kennis Music, I’m sad to officially confirm the shocking and untimely passage of Nigeria’s pop star, Goldie Harvey. With a deep sense of loss, we announce the shocking death of our darling music star, Goldie Harvey. Goldie, 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache at her Park View residence shortly after her arrival from the United States where she went to witness the Grammy Award. She was rushed to her official hospital, Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. We consider this period a gloomy moment for us and the entire Nigerian music industry in view of the circumstance Goldie passed away, the abundance of talent she has exhibited in her but eventful music career and the various opportunities her trip to the United States of America would have availed her.

With only 14 hours left to game over for call for entries for Big Brother Africa season eight, the search team is going to another level, thus auditions. The scouting team will be in Malawi to screen suitable contestants among several applicants who submitted entries for the eighth edition of Africa’s biggest reality show. Multi-choice Malawi have announced that auditions will be conducted on 11th-13th March both in Blantyre and Lilongwe. The venues are yet to be revealed in due course as disclosed by the company’s sales and marketing manager Chimwemwe Nyirende. Chimwemwe Nyirende told word is “we are planning to do auditions both in Blantyre and Lilongwe venues will be communicated in due course” a post on his facebook wall read.
